3D Design & Modeling Courses

Provides students with an outlet for creativity while building many necessary skills needed for success. As the 3D Design industry advances, many are looking to substitute 3D printed parts for conventionally manufactured components; these advances have far-reaching effects that spill into many other industries separate from manufacturing. Thus, acquiring a base knowledge in 3D Design & Modeling sets a student up for future success and provides them with an advantage in many industries they may pursue!

3D Design & Modeling I

This course covers the foundations of 3D design. Students are introduced to a simple software, TinkerCAD, where they manipulate basic shapes to create their desired final product. Designed as an introductory course to a full-featured CAD software, students build the required skills to understand 3D design visualizations and build their own.

3D Design & Modeling II

Students build on the concepts they learned in 3D Design & Modeling I. Now taking one step further to learn through an industry-level manufacturing CAD program. Students continue building on their skills, learning parametric design, and creating advanced technical designs for mechanical purposes.

3D Design & Modeling III

This course takes the advanced knowledge learned in 3D Design & Modeling II, and applies it in a real-world example: game design. Students take the design principles and experience gained from previous courses to design, create, and model their own game. Students will deepen their knowledge of 3D design through trial and error through this overarching course project.

3D Design & Modeling in the Future

3D design is still a relatively new industry compared to long-standing giants like coding and engineering, yet it is sure to become more and more significant as new technological advances are made. In industries such as medicine, aerospace, and robotics, many are currently striving to incorporate more and more 3D printing into their practices. Whether it is for visualizing the human anatomy before surgery or providing an inexpensive means of prototyping, 3D design is a pivotal advancement in the technological world.
